Saligrama Shila - Lord Vishnu's Abode
Saligrama are divine stones where the creator resides in one or many of various forms par excellence and Non-exhaustive as the creator himself!
A Saligram, or saligrama shila is a particular variety of stone collected from riverbed or banks of the Kali Gandaki, a tributary of the Gandaki River in Nepal, used as a non-anthropomorphic representation of Lord Vishnu by Hindus. They are typically fossils of ammonite shells from the Devonian-Cretaceous period of 400 to 66 million years ago. The fossils are considered holy by Hindus because Madhvacharya received it from Vyasa, also called Astamurti, and also they resemble symbols associated with Lord Vishnu, mainly the Shankha (conch shell). Its known to a commoner as a divine stone or stones of gods. These divine stones are the shell of a worms called VajraKeeta which are found near the Gandaki river. These worms thrive on Thulasi plants. This worm has teeth as hard as diamonds, it drills the rock or stone, enters inside and stays there.
Similarly, at Dwaraka River, a Thickly Densed , white colored material is seen. This is called as ChakraSila or Dwaraka Saligramam which is also divine and Sacred.

Saligrama shilas are obtained from the area of Nepal known as Shalagrama kshetra, which lies on the basin of the Kaligandaki river between Damodara kunda situated south of the mountain peak named Damodara Himal near Dhaulagiri which can approached after trekking for a few days from Mukthinath in Mustang District in the north to Ruru Kshetra (referred to as the hermitage of Sage Pulaha in Varaha Purana) in the south. River Gandaki also known as Kali Gandaki flows through Nepal and joins the river Ganga in Bihar. The same river is also called Salagrami or Narayani in Uttar Pradesh. The Saligrama hill on the bank of this river is believed to be the manifestation of Lord Vishnu (mentioned in Mahabharath).

Saligrama worship is the highest form of worship of Lord VIshnu as Saligrama itself is considered as Lord Vishnu. One who worship Saligrama will get treated as Maha Vishnu. By Looking the Sculpture of Saligrama, even a Murderer will get rid of his Sins. One is assured of Mukti (Eternal Abode) just worshipping saligrama with Bhakti, without Bakthi or even accidentally. Person who worship will not be scared of Yama (God of Death). Saligrama worship makes even an ordinary person very high, on a sprititual level.
